After spending nearly a decade living in Scotland, returning to Australia felt like stepping into the unknown.

I was unsure of what my life would look like on the other side, but I was certain I was burning down the life that I had.

But I kept holding onto the idea that fire, despite its reputation, is regenerative.

When we burn down a part of ourselves we clear the way for something new to take root.

This painting carries that transformation – it’s for anyone who feels as though they’ve risen from the ashes of what once was only to build something better.
